Tent City 4 Update and Needs List – July 6
Tent City will be moving to Bear Creek United Methodist out at Cottage Lake on July 24. The address is 16530 Avondale Rd. NE. The phone is: 425-788-2953. The email address and calendar site for booking meals will stay as is. On the 24th you will just have a new meal coordinator.
With the move to Woodinville the cost of commuting to work on the busses will go up again. Money for bus tickets is a priority need. Checks can be made out to SHARE the parent organization for Tent City4 or to KIN (Kirkland interfaith Network) and noted for Tent City4 Bus Tickets. Share checks can be dropped off at Tent City4. Both SHARE and KIN checks can be mailed to me as well and I will get them to the right folks. My address is 8316 NE 143rd St. Bothell Wa 98011.
About 60% of tent city residents work, many a minimum wage, day to day labor. Each person is just hoping the contractor will notice how hard they work and put them on full time at regular wages. This has been the way most tent city residents get themselves out of homelessness. They need to save every dime they make for future housing, a car to get to work with, work clothes. The money donated for bus tickets buys tickets at a much reduced rate.
