Tent City4 is now located at the Community Church of Issaquah; 205 Mt. Park Blvd SW, Issaquah, WA 98027. Here are their current needs. Asterisk indicates those things that they are currently OUT of at this time.
*Spoons, forks and knives
*Trash bags (50 gal, 33 gallon, and 13 gallon)
*Hot cereal in individual packets
*Cold cereal can be in large boxes
“little Hotties” hand warmers
Clean used winter clothing (from sm to XXXL for men and women
Thermal underwear or sweats and polar fleece that can fit under clothing.
Gloves, mittens, stocking caps and scarves
Cold and flu meds
Canned foods in 15-16oz cans such as chili
Mayonnaise, mustard, catsup salt and pepper
Cup of Soup
Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
Ziploc bags in qt and gal sizes
If we each buy one item we can together supply all of these things. Buy in volume if you can such as at Costco. The camp literally runs on coffee when the weather is cold. They use about 25 lb of sugar a week. About 60% of the residents work and get to work on the buses. They need to be able to take lunch items with them. They use Ziploc bags to pack up leftovers from the evening meal and Top Ramen when nothing else is available. When it is cold they go through even more of the items that can be heated up. When it is cold you need more calories to stay warm if you are outside.
A great idea for youth groups and Sunday school classes is to make rice bags. Take cheep tube sox and fill them with dry rice. Tie a knot at the top. These can be heated in a microwave and used to heat a bed all night.
