Tent City 4 Update and Wish List May 20
Tent city4 is now located at Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church 19020 NE Woodinville Duvall Road, Woodinville, WA
The camp is located toward the back West side of the church. To donate items take them directly to the camp at any time. The camp security can take items 24/7. The pantry looks pretty empty. There are over 80 residents in camp that means about 160 cups, bowls and or plates a day. Each person must cook their own breakfast and lunch each day. Health Department does not allow the camp to prepare their own meals as a group. They have one refrigerator and a small freezer, a microwave (that needs replacing) two coffee pots and a toaster. Donations of food need to be in single serving sizes except those items listed below. Please remember if it can’t be just heated up in a microwave they probably can’t use it.
One hot meal is provided each night at 6pm by churches, businesses and organizations. The Tent City4 web site gives information on how to sign up to provide a meal.
About 60% of the residents work part or full time. They just don’t earn enough for an apartment, car, gas, medication, and food. They may work as temporary employees and will be leaving the camp as soon as they are hired on a permanent basis. Without a permanent job you can’t rent an apartment. Many work odd shifts and are not in camp for the hot meal.
