Tent City 4 is now at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 3030 Bellevue Way Northeast, Bellevue, just a little south of 520. It is a very accessible site, but they are having trouble rounding up meal providers. Someone at the camp reported that they are rarely getting dinner at night. Out of the 21 days left in August, there are 14 days where no one is scheduled to serve a meal. For information on open dates, go to http://prem.calendars.net/tcmeals. The campers would love to see you

We just got a note from the camp that their commercial coffee pot has died the microwave is on its last leg. This indeed an emergency, the camp runs on coffee and the only way to cook is the microwave oven. About 60% of the residents work and often they are at odd hours, and entail covering the distance by busses. At Woodinville the busses don’t serve the area they are in except normal commute time to normal commute time. Folks get up very early and walk to town to catch a bus or come home after the regular commute and have to walk up from town to the camp. In addition to that, all residents must work a 4 hour security shift and can be assigned any 4 hour shift, day or night. Coffee and hot food help a lot.
If your group or organization can purchase a commercial pot please call Sandra and let her know you are making the donation. They don’t need 20 just one or two. Contact Sandra at 425-823-1629.

The camp is located toward the back West side of the church. To donate items take them directly to the camp at any time. The camp security can take items 24/7. The pantry looks pretty empty. There are over 80 residents in camp that means about 160 cups, bowls and or plates a day. Each person must cook their own breakfast and lunch each day. Health Department does not allow the camp to prepare their own meals as a group. They have one refrigerator and a small freezer, a microwave (that needs replacing) two coffee pots and a toaster. Donations of food need to be in single serving sizes except those items listed below. Please remember if it can’t be just heated up in a microwave they probably can’t use it.
One hot meal is provided each night at 6pm by churches, businesses and organizations. The Tent City4 web site gives information on how to sign up to provide a meal.
About 60% of the residents work part or full time. They just don’t earn enough for an apartment, car, gas, medication, and food. They may work as temporary employees and will be leaving the camp as soon as they are hired on a permanent basis. Without a permanent job you can’t rent an apartment. Many work odd shifts and are not in camp for the hot meal.
Tent city4 will be moving to the Woodinville Unitarian Universalist Church 19020 NE Woodinville Duvall Road P.O. Box 111 Woodinville, WA 98072 on April 21. Below is a list of items that are still needed for the move.
5 5lb boxes of 2 ¼” nails
7/16” to 1/2 “ 4’x8’ plywood sheathing (no pressboard please)
Tent City 4 is a part of the larger SHARE/WHEEL organizations. We both survive by private donations. Tent City4 gets their tents, tarps, plywood, and donations of food, clothing, blankets and towels from donations from people on the Eastside. SHARE/WHEEL supplies the sani cans, dumpters and phone. Share needs help with their annual Auction. They really need people to help with preparations. See more information below:
SHARE May Lose Auction (http://www.sharewheel.org)
SHARE’s biggest fundraising event, the Harvest Time Auction, may have come to an end after nine years.
SHARE’s auction is unique in the world of charity events because SHARE participants are involved in the event from spring until the day of the auction to solicit or donate nearly all of the silent auction items. On the day of the auction homeless volunteers from the SHARE community work tirelessly to get the auction ready, speak during the auction, sort the purchased auction items, and work at the item release desk.
